SURVEY OF INDIA. OPEN SERIES MAP (OSM) E43G13: MUMBAI & ENVIRONS, 1:50,000 (POST-2005)
A clear topographical map of Mumbai and the surrounding harbour. It covers South Mumbai (Fort, Colaba, CST), Thane Creek, Elephanta (Gharapuri), Jawahar Dweep/Butcher Island, Uran–Nhava, and Navi Mumbai.
It shows roads, railways, built-up areas, water features, spot heights and boundaries. The side panels include:
• a full legend (conventional symbols),
• an index of nearby sheets, and
• a bilingual “References to Mumbai” list naming key places such as the Gateway of India, Taj Mahal Hotel, Reserve Bank of India, Times of India Press, Brabourne Stadium and major government offices.
After 2005, the Survey of India issued Open Series Maps (OSM) so standard 1:50,000 maps could be used by the public. These sheets use the modern WGS-84 datum and a straightforward grid system (here E43G13). This Mumbai sheet is widely used for planning, infrastructure and environmental work because it combines accurate topography with an easy, consistent format.
